Essay Editing

By popular demand, I am editing essays again. I edit for content, flow, clarity, and structure. I was formerly an admissions advisor/essay editor for a for-profit company (focused on medical school admissions) and many of the applicants I worked with have gotten into incredible medical schools.

First Review

(i.e. this is my first time editing your essay)

  • Essays/Activities up to 1000 words: $35
  • Every 500 words after that: add $10 (ex: an essay up to 1500 words on its first read will cost $45)

Re-reads

  • Every 500 words after that: add $5

Note: Secondary Applications

The pricing scheme is the same; it’s by word count. if you want me to review the entire secondary application for a school, just tally up the # of words.

FAQs

  • What is the turnaround time? Turnaround time is 48-72h after submission & payment; however, I am very aware of AMCAS deadlines and the med school application cycle timelines, so will do my very best to finish editing faster than that.
  • Why is this a paid service? Don’t you care about students? While I would love to provide essay editing services for free, I am just one person (and my responsibilities first and foremost are that of an MD-PhD student ;)) I charge in order to keep the editing queue reasonable for myself as well as be compensated for my time spent reading and editing.
  • Are there alternatives to you editing my essay? Lots! I always recommend students to seek out free resources first (ex: your school’s career advising/pre-health office, trusted friends, mentors, etc). There are also large admissions consulting companies that provide these essay editing services.
  • Will I get in medical school if you read my essays? I would be wary of any service that gives you a “guarantee”; at the end of the day whether or not you get into medical school will depend on many factors on top of your essays (stats, the quality of activities and research, interviews, etc). What I can promise is that I will be honest with you when it comes to your essay and try to provide as much feedback as I can to help you put your best foot forward.
